Eros - desire
Howlite and bronze beaded bracelet. Howlite is said to stimulate the desire for knowledge and has vibrations that directly resonate with the root and crown chakras. It was first discovered in Canada in 1868 by Henry How, a Canadian chemist, mineralogist and geologist. Named after the Greek god of desire, attraction, love and procreation, Eros. In this case we are focused on not just physical desire, but a capacity to cultivate mental desire.
Through the ages, beads have been used by nearly every culture as a form of art, prayer, a symbol of an individual’s social status, and as a medium of barter for supplies. Today and for the unforeseeable future, the art and love of beading will continue to be an important part of every culture worldwide.
